Mount Pilatus Excursion (Day 11)

The view of the Alps and the countryside surrounding Lake Lucerne from the top of Mt. Pilatus (7,000 ft – 2,132m) is absolutely phenomenal. AESU Alumni World Travel offers you a unique excursion with the steepest railway of the world (gradient 48%), spectacular cable car and modern panorama gondolas. The highlight of the tour is the magnificent view from 7,000 ft above sea level. For this memorable trip, your tour bus takes you from the center of Lucerne to the boarding point of the aerial gondola and your ride up the mountain! Upon arrival on top of Mount Pilatus, feel pure nature at the gateway of Lucerne. Discover the several hiking trails or enjoy Swiss culinary delights in various restaurants at the mountain top with an impressive panoramic view. There is hardly another mountain in Switzerland with such a wonderful and breathtaking view of the Alps. Decent by means of the steepest railway of the world and board your tour bus.

Swiss Folklore Dinner Party (Day 11)

Only a 30 minute drive from your hotel and at an elevation of 3,500 ft, lies the village of Illgau (pop. 763), home of one of the most charming and typical dining venues in the area, the Sigristenhaus. Named after its original function, the annex to the village church, this rustic restaurant provides a perfect backdrop for the best of Swiss folklore music and entertainment brought to you by local amateur artists this area is famous for. Dance, learn how to yodel, try your luck at the Alphorn or learn how to crack the whip to corral Alpine cattle. During the show, you will be treated to a home-made dinner of Swiss fondue, “Geschnetzeltes” (turkey stew in cream sauce), Swiss-style hash browns, vegetables and dessert. And nobody will go away hungry, as the charming staff keeps filling your plates as you go along.
