DAY 1 TRAVEL TO BEIJING, CHINA
Our adventure begins with an overnight flight to the “Middle Kingdom’s” capital, Beijing, the nation’s spiritual heart for the last seven centuries. [In-flight meals]
DAY 2 BEIJING

Arrive in Beijing, capital of China and the host city for the 2008 Olympic games. With a population of over 14 million, this fascinating city is renowned for its wide, tree-lined boulevards and both ancient and modern neighborhoods. The balance of your day is free to relax, refresh and explore.

DAY 3 BEIJING
After breakfast we visit Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest square, lined with monumental public buildings and fronting the legendary “Forbidden City.”
Once inside, visit vast imperial courtyards, splendid 15th-century halls and pavilions graced with imperial treasures that now comprise the Palace Museum. Also see the Summer Palace and magnificent gardens along Lake Kunming.
This afternoon is at leisure, or you may join us for a pedi-cab (tricycle) tour through Beijing’s ancient back alleys and passageways known as Hutongs. Tonight we are invited to a fabulous Peking Duck Dinner. [B,L,D]
DAY 4 BEIJING - GREAT WALL - MING TOMBS
The Great Wall of China is one of the seven great man-made wonders of the world and can be seen with the naked eye from outer space. After touring the wall, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant followed by a visit to the Ming Tombs. See the colorful temples, Soul Tower and perfectly preserved mausoleums of 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644).
Leisure evening back in Beijing to consider a Traditional Chinese Kungfu Show. [B,L]
DAY 5 BEIJING - XIAN
Visit the Temple of Heaven, where emperors from the Ming and Qing Dynasties prayed
for a good harvest.
Later board a flight to the ancient city of Xian, starting point of the
historic Silk Road. After dinner this evening, we’ll enjoy the world famous Tang Dynasty Theater Performance. [B, In-flight L, D]
 
DAY 6 XIAN
In 221 BC, Qing Shi Huang unified China and became its first emperor. When he died, an entire Terra Cotta Army was created and buried with him. His burial site was
accidentally discovered by farmers in 1974 and quickly became one of the century’s greatest archeological discoveries. Also see the Wild Goose Pagoda, ancient
City Walls and Bell Tower. [B,L]
DAY 7 XIAN - SHANGHAI
Morning at leisure before we fly to Shanghai. Also known as Hu, Shanghai is the largest industrial city in China covering an area of 2,239 square miles with population of 18.7 million.
The afternoon is free for you to explore downtown or shop for silk and pottery. Tonight we attend a Chinese Acrobatic Show. [B, In-flight L, D]
DAY 8 SHANGHAI
After breakfast we’ll depart for the People’s Square, which has become the political and cultural center of Shanghai since it was rebuilt in 1994. Highlights include a massive fountain called the Light of Huangpu River. Then we’ll continue to Yu Yuan Gardens - one of the world’s most beautiful and historic gardens for over 400 years. Each pavilion, hall, stone and stream in the garden expresses the quintessential South China landscape design from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Enjoy a Dim-Sum lunch and take in more sights including the Shanghai Museum, the bustling Nanjing shopping district and the famous Bund riverfront promenade. This evening we get together for our farewell dinner. [B,L,D]
DAY 9 TRAVEL HOME OR JOIN HONG KONG EXTENSION

This morning we’ll transfer to the airport for our flight home, or begin our optional
excursion to Hong Kong. [In-flight meals]

Morning at leisure. Fly to Hong Kong in the afternoon. Time to shop until you drop in this
“Bargain Shopper’s Paradise.” Enjoy a free evening to take in what the Guinness Book of World Records calls, “The world’s largest permanent Light and Sound Show.”
Over 33 key buildings on both sides of Victoria Harbor create the stage for an all-round vision of colored lights, laser beams and searchlights performing a stunning, unforgettable spectacle synchronized to music and narration that celebrates the energy, spirit and diversity of Hong Kong. [B]

OPTIONAL HONG KONG EXTENSION (3 days – 2 nights)

DAY 10 HONG KONG
We’ll tour Hong Kong Island and the colorful Wanchai District, then travel to the top of Victoria Peak for a spectacular view of Hong Kong Harbor and Kowloon. Visit Stanley Market, fashionable Repulse Bay and Aberdeen’s floating fishing village to get a glimpse of the lifestyle of the “Water People.” Your afternoon and evening are free to further explore Hong Kong's diversity and sophistication. DAY 11 TRAVEL HOME
