Salzburg
is the birthplace of Mozart and the city offers beautiful
landscapes, a rich culture and a delicious cuisine. It is
situated on the northern edge of the Alps, approximately
300 kilometers to the west of Austria's capitol, Vienna.
Its Old Town is one of the most intriguing sections of the
city with natural borders provided by the river Salzach
and the Mösnchsberg, a large rock face that gave the
town a natural defense from invaders during the Middle Ages.
The house in which Mozart was born and the impressive Hohensalzburg
fortress, which towers over the city are both located in
the Old Town district. Salzburg has a wealth of museums
and galleries and an active nightlife.
