Eco & Sustainable:

Costa Rica is a lush country where nature is on display in all its splendor thanks to extraordinary biodiversity. The territory is divided into 29 national parks, 19 wildlife refuges, 8 biological reserves, and a series of protected areas that captivate lovers of ecotourism activities. The Fortuna River Waterfall is a natural area managed sustainably by a non-profit organization. Its main objective to ensure the well-being and growth of La Fortuna community and projects are possible to run thanks to funds raised by the visit of each tourist to this natural space. Traveling with us supports community development as a portion of your trip cost will go to benefit community projects including a local animal sanctuary, a primary school and organic gardens.
.

Culture & Heritage:

Costa Rica is a country of pura vida – a friendly, multicultural, and multilingual people descended from the cultural fusion of immigrants, including Africans, Chinese, Jews, Lebanese and Italians, and the indigenous peoples of the Bribrí, Cabécar, Maleku, Teribe, Boruca, Ngäbe, Huetar and Chorotega groups.
.

Culinary:

Abundant farmland, seas, and jungles, plus a stunning mix of cultural influences, have made Costa Rica a Latin American food destination. The three most famous dishes of the country: try the regional variation of gallo pinto: rice and beans, seasoned with bell peppers, cilantro, and onions or Casado, mixed vegetables with a stewed meat or grilled fish or shredded chicken with rice and vegetables, called Arroz con Pollo. Costa Ricans don’t like their food too spicy, which is why you will likely find a bottle of hot sauce on the table to spice things up.
.

Educational:

Not only will we learn of the amazing flora and fauna of Costa Rica during our nature walks, but also learn about rural culture, farming traditions and small artisanal industries. At Arenal Vida Campesina we are invited to peek inside rural living through traditional cuisine, authenticity of the communities, and the wealth that comes from living in a natural environment where sustainable practices promoted by business owners dominate as part of this product.
.

Landscapes & Wildlife:

Costa Rica is a rugged, rain forested Central American country with coastlines on the Caribbean and Pacific. Observe a variety of animals, such as monkeys, toucans, and the oropendolas, one of Costa Rica’s most iconic bird species known for their unique call. Also enjoy views of the Arenal lake and volcano. Costa Rica may have some of the most stunning rain forests and wildlife but also amazing beaches and one of the best maintained beaches in the country is Playa Hermosa, offering us crystal clear blue waters and gorgeous scenery.
.

Leisure:

Free time may find you relaxing on your cabin’s porch taking in amazing views of the majestic volcano, relaxing on the sandy beaches of Hermosa, or exploring the surroundings on an optional horse-back ride. Adrenaline seekers may opt for a zip ‘flying’ over canyons, above waterfalls, and through the forest.
.
.

Outdoor & Adventure:

This Eco Adventure is packed with outdoor activities. We hike Arenal Volcano National Park with a local expert and discover formations, lush forests, and wildlife such as monkeys and sloths. We walk the edge of the volcano and take a rainforest trail to the most recent lava flow. At Playa Hermosa Beach, you may opt to join a whale watching trip, rent a surfboard, or go on a snorkeling adventure.
.

Wellness & Self-Care:

We escape into the natural paradise of Ecotermales Fortuna hot springs, filled with the peace and serenity of the tropical rainforest, and impressive views of the Arenal Volcano, which heats and nourishes the healing waters. The thermal pools range in temperature from 90-106F and a dip in the water provides benefits from muscle relaxation to stress relief. This is the time for self-care.
