Here is how you can make the most of 48 hours in Amsterdam with AESU!

When traveling places like the Netherlands that have such a rich history and culture, there is so much to see and do that it is impossible to take it all in over the span of one trip. With the right planning, Amsterdam offers many great opportunities to experience the best that Holland has to offer in just a short trip. Here is how you can make the most of 48 hours in Amsterdam with AESU!

The Museum Quarter

Among many things, Amsterdam is known for its celebrated Museum Quarter, home to the famous Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, and Van Gogh Museum. Each of these three museums celebrates Dutch culture through featuring the works of famous artists. At the Rijksmuseum, you will find a collection of works from Dutch and Flemish masters of the 16th through the 19th century, including Rembrandt’s De Nachtwacht. One of the most well-known artists in history is showcased in the Van Gogh museum, which chronicles his life through his impressionist paintings. Lastly, the Stedelijk Museum features the contemporary art of Holland and the world.

Amsterdam Canals

There are over 150 canals across Amsterdam and they offer many opportunities to see the city in a new way. Whether you want to take one of many cruise tours or a quick shortcut by water taxi to Dam Square to see the Anne Frank House, travel by canal is easy. The canals were a central part of the city when it was first built in the mid-1200s; in fact Amsterdam was named for the large dam at the heart of the city.

The Vondelpark

Vondelpark is a place that is at the heart of Amsterdam. This urban park is a green and inviting intersection between idyllic nature and the hub of city life. Located in Old South Amsterdam, Vondelpark was originally opened as Nieuwe Park in 1865 and later renamed Vondelpark in honor of 17th-century dramatist Joost van den Vondel. There are countless outdoor activities in Vondelpark, such as open-air theatre and skating at Vondeltuin; you can step in for a movie from the EYE film institute. Vondelpark is also the perfect place for lunch because it is at the center of many four and five-star cafes and restaurants.
