The Tulip Fields

Holland’s tulip fields begin to bloom every year towards the end of March in areas just outside of Amsterdam and beyond. The most famous places to view the vibrant flowers lie between the towns of Haarlem and Sassenheim. If you’re looking to experience the world’s most spectacularly planned gardens, make the trip to Lisse in South Holland. Here you’ll find the Keukenhof Tulip Gardens, boasting a variety of 800 different tulips! The flower park is dedicated to a specific theme each year. In 2020, visitors can enjoy the World of Colors theme to celebrate the park’s 71st anniversary.

When to Visit

Do you want to witness the tulips in full bloom?  Plan to take your trip between April and May. However, However, regardless of when you visit, you’re bound to see a colorful array of flowers in full bloom! The narcissi and hyacinths bloom before the tulips and flowers such as lilies bring life to the local gardens later in the season! The best time of day to visit the tulip fields is early in the morning, to avoid the large crowds. Just as the early bird gets the worm, the earliest risers take the best sunrise pictures of the tulips!
