Dubai is known as one of the best places to go shopping in the entire world. Not only does it boast an attractive tax-free program for tourist shoppers, but the city also features some of the biggest, best, and most unique malls in the world. Internationally recognized brands, from budget chains to haute couture labels, make their homes in Dubai malls, and the attractions besides the stores at some of them are absolutely amazing! If you never thought that going on a skiing trip in Dubai was even remotely possible, let us introduce you to some of the best malls Dubai has to offer.
The Dubai Mall
The Dubai Mall is the largest mall in the world by total land area, with 502,000 square miles of total retail floor area and an astounding 14,000 parking spaces on the site! Featuring over 1,200 shops, you’re bound to find what you’re looking to buy here. And if the sheer number of shops weren’t enough, you could make an entire day out of exploring the other attractions that the Dubai Mall has to offer – the Dubai Aquarium, an Olympic-sized ice-skating rink, a haunted house, a genuine fossil of a Diplodocus dinosaur, and much more!
Mall of the Emirates
Dubai might be the last place in the world you might think to do some winter sports, but if you have a passion for skiing and snowboarding, you’ll definitely want to visit the Mall of the Emirates! The Ski Dubai complex located within the mall maintains a temperature of around 32 degrees year-round and features an 85-meter-high indoor mountain slope, including the world’s first indoor black diamond run. In addition, the complex also houses several penguins that are released throughout the day, and a direct encounter with them can be booked with Ski Dubai in advance!
Dubai also features a number of different malls built around certain visual themes. The Mercato Mall has the feel of an Italian Renaissance town, with cobbled walkways, piazzas, and charming Mediterranean store facades. WAFI Mall draws inspiration from ancient Middle Eastern architecture, as evidenced by the Egyptian statues outside of the entrance. The Ibn Battuta Mall pays homage to the famous explorer by decorating each court of the mall with visual cues of the main areas he explored – Andalusia, China, India, Egypt, Persia, and Tunisia.
