Encounter Portuguese traditions in Porto’s beautiful historic old town and cross the bridge into Vila Nova de Gaia for a tasting of the famous port wine. Go biking in the Douro Valley wine country and discover lush river valley vineyards that lie beneath the hilltop castles. Meander up one of Lisbon’s lofty hills to the Alfama neighborhood or take famous Tram 28 to discover the capital city’s tiny neighborhoods with baroque streets and dazzling statues. Venture south to the famed Algarve with its stunning coastline views for some beach time and watersports.

Hotels

We stay in 3 or 4-star hotels, all with private bath/shower in 2-share rooms. Our hotels have been specially selected for their European atmosphere, friendly hospitality, and cleanliness. Our hotels are centrally located or within a short walk of public transportation to take you to the landmark of your choice in the city you are visiting. (Why stay in remote cabins, hostels, or share your room with up to 6 people, when you can stay in a centrally located hotel?)

You’ll be given a complete hotel address list with your final documents. Properties are subject to change and any substitutions would be the equivalent of those listed. All land package rates are based on two people sharing a room. If traveling solo and not wanting to pay the single supplement, AESU will attempt to arrange a share with a same-gender travelers. If a share cannot be arranged a single supplement will apply.

    Porto, Portugal
    The Grande Hotel Porto is located in the city’s pedestrian zone and approximately 5 minutes (walk) from São Bento Train Station. It has a rooftop terrace and an à la carte restaurant serving Portuguese cuisine. Rooms are elegantely furnishes and feature a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a mini-bar and a private bathroom with a bath tub and shower. Grande Hotel do Porto is only steps from Bolhão Bus and Metro Station and 10 minutes from the Serra do Pilar Monastery by foot.
