Sustainable Travel International & AESU

AESU is proud to partner with Sustainable Travel International and to promote responsible travel practices through our “TRAVEL for GOOD” initiative!

At AESU, we believe that the preservation of the planet and the environment is a responsibility to be taken seriously and shared by everyone involved in the tourism and travel industries. It’s our view that by doing this, we can help to preserve our global treasures and allow them to be enjoyed in the future for many generations to come. That’s why we established “TRAVEL for GOOD” decades ago and have been a trailblazer within the industry in promoting sustainable travel practices. When you travel with us, you can rest assured that you’re helping to do your part in this mission. We are also members of Sustainable Travel International (STI), which is a global leader in helping to protect the world’s most vulnerable destinations.

Working for the Benefit of All Towards a Brighter Travel Future

The world faces a dire threat due to the influences of climate change, the over-extraction of natural resources, extreme wealth disparity, and much more. What’s more, when done thoughtlessly, travel and tourism can exacerbate these problems. Everything from the mistreatment of natural ecosystems to the loss of precious cultural traditions can accelerate the damage that these threats can cause. However, due to the size and impact of the travel industry as a whole, by working together we can exercise a powerful positive influence on these developments. STI members work with local governments, businesses, organizations, and other entities to create a brighter future for the planet. Our main areas of focus include:

  • Safeguarding Nature – tourism in some areas of the world rely heavily on the conservation of fragile ecosystems.
  • Combatting Climate Change – the carbon footprint of the travel industry needs to be reduced in order to do our part in fighting against climate change and its effects.
  • Empowering Local Communities – cultural exchange is another major reason why people travel. We wish to celebrate these unique cultures and improve the livelihoods of these communities to preserve them for future travelers.
  • Reducing Waste and Pollution – the tourism industry as a whole is vulnerable to overconsumption and can produce an abundance of waste as a result – in some communities up to twice as much. We work to reduce this by building awareness and helping local communities improve their waste management infrastructures.

Do Your Part with AESU

AESU is a proud member of STI and we work hard to promote sustainable travel through our practices. We employ local guides, book stays at locally owned and operated smaller hotels, and invest in local communities. Our team emphasizes electronic advertising and marketing efforts in a bid to reduce our consumption of paper. And we encourage all of our fellow travelers to purchase local goods, engage with local cultures, be respectful when exploring nature, and much more to help preserve our destinations for years to come!
